Renovations

Is what was once your dream home now keeping you up at night? Living in a home that isn’t accommodating your wants and needs isn’t ideal, but selling your home is not an option either. Fortunately, there’s a solution that allows you to stay in your home and fall in love with it all over again. Renovations are a great way to update your home and increase its value and curb appeal. Divine Interiors Group can help you navigate the home remodeling process and come out on the other side as a happier homeowner with a home that you can’t wait to show off!

Kitchen Remodel Basics

When it comes to getting the most bang for your buck, you can’t go wrong with a kitchen remodel. Whether you opt for a complete overhaul, or instead choose to upgrade a few key elements, you can expect your ROI to be about 75% of the total cost. With a renovation that already makes you like your kitchen more, that return on investment is a great reason to consider giving your kitchen a facelift. If you want to start small, we suggest beginning your kitchen remodel by replacing one or all of the following:

  • Backsplash
  • Countertops
  • Cabinet faces
  • Plumbing and lighting fixtures
  • Major appliances

Renovating the Bathroom

If you’re up to tackling another room in your home, consider remodeling the primary bathroom. A luxurious, modern bathroom is a big draw for potential buyers if you plan to put your home on the market, and if you aren’t planning on selling your home, it’s one of the most used spots in your home. Consider some of these must-haves to create a posh powder room:

  • A double vanity not only looks upscale, but it’s also convenient if you and your partner get ready at the same time of day.
  • Soaking in a hot bath is a perfect way to unwind at the end of the day. A freestanding tub is elegant and acts as an architectural component in the room.
  • The addition of a water closet greatly improves the functionality of your bathroom by allowing two people to use the room for different reasons at the same time.

Timeline for Kitchen Renovations

It’s not possible to provide an exact amount of time that a home remodeling will take, but we can give you a rough estimate. We suggest you begin planning for your kitchen remodel several months before you would like the job complete. Contractors are often booked out at least a few months, especially during the spring and summer. You can expect a full kitchen remodel to take at least a few months from start to finish once contractors get to work. After you finalize your design plans, the timeline for remodeling a kitchen usually looks something like this:

  • Order your appliances and cabinetry - The lead time for cabinets depends on several factors, but plan for between one and two months from time of order to delivery.
  • Rough construction is the first phase of a kitchen remodel and will take at least one week. Once the demolition of your existing kitchen is complete, any structural changes will be completed. These changes include windows, walls, and doorways.
  • Utility rough-in work is up next. Any electrical or plumbing work must be done before drywall or flooring can be installed. The work itself can take between three and five days. Once the work is complete, an inspector must give the go ahead to move forward. This can take up to a week.
  • The following week will be used for installing drywall and painting, followed up by a day for flooring to be laid. This will complete the rough construction phase.
  • Your cabinets will be installed next, and then measurements for new countertops can be taken. It will take between two and four weeks for the countertops to be manufactured, delivered, and installed.
  • Installation of appliances, fixtures, and hardware will add another seven to ten days to the timeline.
  • The final step is cleaning the construction zone, which only requires one or two days.

Consider Custom Built-ins

Built-ins make your home unique and give you guaranteed storage space in areas that may otherwise be unusable, such as under the stairs. Custom built-ins are elegant and give your home a polished appearance. Bookworms and avid collectors will love display options that have been curated especially for prized collections. Do you love the idea of built-ins but are unsure where to start? Here are some popular options:

  • Closets - The sky's the limit when it comes to designing a custom closet. Consider incorporating shoe shelves, drawers, and jewelry storage.
  • Kitchen and pantry shelves
  • China cabinet in the dining room
  • Linen cabinets
