Choosing a Lifting System for Hunter Douglas Shades

After considering all of the custom window treatment options available from Hunter Douglas, you’ve decided to add shades to your home. If you have already figured out the product, color, and material you want, the next decision is what type of operating system you should use. Serving Lakewood Ranch, Florida and the surrounding areas, Divine Interiors Group offers the following breakdown of shade lifting systems to help with your selection.

If You Need a Basic Window Treatment Operating System

Every Hunter Douglas shade comes with a basic lifting system with a limited lifetime guarantee that will allow you to operate your window treatments without issues for as long as you own them. And there is no additional cost.

The basic operating system for honeycomb shades, Roman shades, and some woven woods is a cord you pull on to release and raise or lower them. Wall cleats are available to wrap the cord around when the shade is open and the cord is long.

For roller shades, screen shades, and some woven woods, a continuous beaded loop is used to open and close them, and the Custom Clutch system exclusive to Hunter Douglas makes it easy to smoothly adjust your blinds and eliminates all but the smallest light gap around the shade.

If You Have Kids or Pets

If you have kids or pets, entanglement in long cords on window treatments may be a concern. Hunter Douglas provides shorter cord and cordless options for all of their window treatments. These systems are also perfect if you don’t like the look of long cords on your window coverings.

LiteRise® - Shades with this system are completely cordless and are adjusted by pushing up or pulling down on the bottom of the window treatment. It is available on select cellular shades, roller shades, screen shades, Roman shades, and sheer shadings.

UltraGlide® - While there is still a cord with this lifting system, it is retractable, so it stays a manageable length regardless of whether your shade is open or closed. It is available on select lines of all Hunter Douglas shades and sheers.

If You Want Privacy and Natural Light at the Same Time

With some shades it may seem as if you have to decide whether to close them for privacy or open them for natural light. The top-down/bottom-up operating system offers both at the same time. Available on Silhouette® shadings, woven woods, honeycomb shades, and pleated shades, among others, this system allows you to lower the top part of your window treatment to let in natural light while keeping the bottom portion closed for privacy. Or if the sun is directly in your eyes in the middle of the window, leave that part closed while lowering the top and raising the bottom to let in the indirect light.

If You Want the Ultimate in Convenience

Available on numerous sheers and shades, motorization is the ultimate operating system for convenience. With PowerView® you can adjust shades that are difficult to reach, raise and lower multiple window coverings to the same level in different rooms at the same time, and even use your mobile device to operate them when you aren’t home or have them open and close based on when the sun rises and sets.
